Come meet Generation Alpha, our newest generational cohort. The oldest of Gen Alpha are just turning 16. With research from different sources, you will hear about who they feel understands them, where they feel they belong, and what they say about faith and spirituality. We’ll ponder ways our communities of faith can love this generation in the ways Jesus calls us to.

Spiritual practices are part of every disciples life but we focus on all the different ways we can pray, worship, read the Bible and serve others.  At St. David's United in Leduc, we spent a whole year considering why such practices exist, how to try each one out as well as committing to grow in one area of our faithful actions during the year.  In this workshop, we will share how we learned and explored together using a different discipleship practice each month (or season) from September to August.  You will go home with practical resources for how to try one or more of these practices at home!  

Rev. Leigh Sinclair, minister with St. David's, has been in rural ministry 17 of her 21 years of ministry.  She loves weaving the worship life of her communities of faith to their learning and serving opportunities.

Based on a new approach called the “Compass Rose of Spiritual Care,” this workshop will help you develop spiritual care programs that will work for you in your community of faith.

What is spiritual care? The United Church of Christ Wellness Ministries Glossary defines it as “Offering supportive care to a person as they seek to establish, reestablish, or grow their sense of connection to self, others, and God and discern the meaning and purpose of their life during difficulties or illness.”

This workshop will give you the tools and techniques to enable you to provide spiritual care as part of a team.

Rev. Geoffrey Simmins enjoys working with communities of faith to help them plan and implement spiritual care programs. Geoffrey has served both rural and urban congregations in Alberta, and between 2020 and 2024 trained hospital visitors in the Chinook Winds Region.

Join us for an overview of the essential elements of community worship, resources for developing or adapting these elements, and a simple and faithful way to offer a sermon. We’ll also learn about the Together We Worship resource and how it can support your community of faith when your paid minister is away.

One of the things that Jesus spoke about most is money, and especially how the use of our resources ought to be in the service of building a counter-cultural way of being in community that he described as the kingdom of heaven. In this workshop we’ll engage the teachings of Jesus, learn about how giving to an institutional charity like the local church is becoming increasingly counter-cultural, talk about practical steps that you can take to encourage generosity in your community of faith, and name some of the resources and accompaniment available to you through the stewardship programs the wider church offers.
