When was the last time you got to hang out with the incredible Marion Best? We’re very excited for Marion to join Holy Shift Size-mic Upgrade as a Story and Learning Circle facilitator. Marion’s term as United Church Moderator was dominated by the struggle toward an Apology for the church’s involvement in the Indian Residential School system. She’s been actively involved in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Hearings and in searching for ways that folks in her community can live out the Apology. At Holy Shift, Marion will offer the opportunity to hear about a small group’s journey toward building Right Relations with their Indigenous Neighbours. She’ll make space for a conversation about the word Racism, what we mean by it, and wondering if do we as individuals have racist tendencies?, and Marion has knowledge about the TRC Calls to Action that are specific to the Churches. Join Marion to listen to her experience, and to engage together in reflective conversation about the ongoing invitation to build a new pattern of relationships between Indigenous and Settler people.
